System Requirements

System requiremen ts and restrictions on use for M ATLAB B uilder for Java

are as follows:

• All requirements for the MATLAB Co m piler; see “Installation and

Configuration” in the MATLAB Compiler documentation.

• Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.4 or later mus t be installed.

• Java Runtime Environment (JRE) that is used by MATLAB and MCR.

Note The supported JRE version is 1.5.0. To find out what JRE you

are using, refer to the output of

'version -java' in MATLAB or

refer to the

jre.cfg file in matlabroot/sys/java/jre/<arch> or

mcrroot/sys/java/jre/<arch>.

Limitations and Restrictions

In general, limitations and restrictions on the use of Java Builder are the

same as those for the MATLAB Compiler. See “Limitations a nd Restrictions”

in the MATLAB Compiler documentation for d etails.

Settings for Environment Variables (Development

Machine)

Before starting to program, you must set the environment on your

development machine to be compatible with MATLAB Builder for Jav a.

Specify the following environment variables:

• “JAVA_HOME Variable” on page 6-3
